Raton Regional Aquatic Center is a state of the art indoor swimming facility featuring a rock-climbing wall, diving board, and an enclosed Water Slide. The Aquatic Center is operated by the City of Raton Parks & Recreation Department. Admission for all patrons is two dollars, and children two and under are free. Located within city limits is Climax Canyon, a 3-mile easy to moderate hike for everyone to enjoy, including fido. The trail overlooks the city, as well as the surrounding valley.
Take a short drive from Raton to Cimarron Canyon State Park to view the Palisades Sill, and spend the day fishing in the cool mountain air. There's also a Wild West adventure in store at the haunted St. James Hotel.

The Raton Golf Course is a nine-hole course nestled in the foothills against Vermejo Park Ranch. The surrounding scenery includes a gorgeous view of majestic New Mexico mesas and a variety of wildlife on and near the fairways.
Located within city limits is our own Raton spin on the Hollywood sign: Goat Hill, which overlooks a majestic skyline of mesas and peaks. You also have access to hike to the exposed Iridium Layer, which formed as a result of a meteorite impact between the Cretaceous and Paleogene period that caused the dinosaurs extinction.
Historic and pleasing architecture, downtown Raton is a part of the 200+ year-old Santa Fe Trail. See where modern-day business and timeless charm meet. Home to the unparalleled, gorgeous Historic Shuler Theater, the Raton Museum, and Arts & Cultural District. History buffs can go wild immersing themselves in the wild west.
Where To Park Your RV
From here, you can easily visit Capulin Volcano National Monument, the Boy Scout Museum, Santa Fe Trail and Raton's Downtown Historic District, or you can take in the Independence Day ballooning events, fireworks and small-town parade. You'll find restaurants, a grocery store and shopping right across the street from the Raton KOA and a game room and horseshoes right on-site.
Low cost RV Park off Highway 64 and I-25.
Located on Frontage Road, just north of Highway 64, with easy off and on to I-25. We are conveniently located close to several gas stations, shopping, and restaurants in Raton. Nearby attractions include Sugarite Canyon State Park, Capulin Volcano National Monument, and the NRA Whittington Center. There are also many hiking and biking trails in the surrounding area.

Sugarite Canyon State Park features a historic early-20th century coal-mining camp and natural scenery at the border of the Rocky Mountains and the Great Plains. The park is located on the Colorado–New Mexico state line 6 miles northeast of Raton, New Mexico
The NRA Whittington Center hosts 120 RV campsites in two adjacent areas.
All campsites are equipped with water, electricity, and sewage hookups.
A bathhouse, complete with laundry facilities, compliments the campground.
All campsites are designed as pull through and will accommodate the longest travel trailers.
No campfires are allowed; however, charcoal or gas grills are acceptable.
